Recorded in 1995, remastered and released in 2025.
Arne says
The fact that 'Walking Alone' was released as an album in 2025 is a small miracle. During our active period from 1993 to 1995, no one in the band could have dreamed of this. It was the spring of 1995.
Klaus, our drummer, who works as a sound engineer at the 'Neue Flora', came into the rehearsal room with a large number of different microphones and said it was time to record a proper tape.
So we recorded about 20 of our songs within a week, and it was a success. We actually landed a few gigs with the demo, including the gig at Logo.
Five songs recorded in the studio
After Franky and Mike left the band in mid-1995 and Michael Starrs joined as the new singer, we went back to the musical theater's recording studio and recorded five songs with Michael on vocals. If Klaus hadn't worked as a sound engineer for the theater, this would never have been possible.
But the band was no longer our band without Franky and Mike. And so 'Right Now' disbanded in the fall of 1995. All that remained were two DAT cassettes: one with the demo from the rehearsal room, and the other with the studio session.
The Move
In 2017, my wife Christine, who had a one-hit wonder in Germany in 1985 with her cover version of 'Sweet for my Sweet, Sugar for my Honey,' moved from Hamburg to the countryside, near the Schlei. During the move, I digitized all of our old demos and tapes. This included the DAT cassettes of Right Now, which had been sleeping in an old box in the basement until then.
Mc Coy
McCoy is my brother-in-law. He's a musician and producer and has been working in the music business for many years. Sometime in the summer of 2024, Christine's sister and McCoy visited us. Late in the evening, with the women already in bed, we listened to the old tapes.
"It's kind of awesome stuff, and considering it's 30 years old, it's really cool," McCoy said. "If you want, I can see what else you can get out of it."
Why not?
The Remaster
The first test was promising, so in January 2025, McCoy and I sat down in his studio, selected the best songs, and gave them a new master mix. This wasn't easy, as all the songs were recorded live. There were no individual tracks for the instruments, just the stereo tape mixed by Klaus, but it was really well done!
We kept the character and sound exactly as they did live in 1995. No overdubs, no new sounds, just the original from 1995!
The album has eleven songs and three bonus tracks.
